Unnamed Ruby on Rails Project

This project was born from a conversation with a friend during Thanksgiving dinner. It is similar to other websites for events out there such as Upcoming.yahoo.com.

But I wanted to build my own to share with my friends and family. I currently have two versions of this project one pre Rails 2.0 (see screencast) and one build on Rails 2.0.1. The latter is being built with RESTful conventions in mind. So while 90% of the code remains the same the interaction has to be restructured a little bit. I hope to launch a stable beta by summer of 2008.

Yeung Investments

I created this project from the ground up for my parents’ company. The requirements where to showcase the current projects being developed and to provide a knowledge base for the clients.

We chose a clean minimal design so that it could be flexible to future product additions. For the knowledge base I decided that the best option available was Wordpress. The websites layout and styling where abstracted to create the template for the Wordpress engine.

This website was also designed with SEO in mind. Just a couple of weeks after release the website started to increase its search engine ranking on Google servers.

FIU ACM

As ACM member I offered my services to redesign the chapter’s website. I chose to make a clean layout with a more clear navigation.

The back-end was well developed before by a fellow member; however some functions where upgraded to the current PHP version. In addition some extra functionality was added to be used with the new site. All the graphics and layout where developed by me.

Maboruka Designs

Client asked to redesign its current website and to do some SEO as well. The client produced all the pictures and content. Before redesign the website was not listed in any search engine and unique visits where below 20/month.

In order to improve search engine ranking the website was designed with current web standards and with rich keyword content. When website was completed a sitemap for the website was generated and submitted to Google. The redesign resulted in a traffic increase and high search engine ranking for the desired keywords.

Polisign Supplies

Client asked to redesign its current website to be released on time for a show. The client produced all the pictures, content and layout structure.

The client basically wanted the website to look similar to their catalog. The client also asked to have a download section with basic authentication for its clients to host manuals and the catalog. For the redesign the table structured layout was dropped in favor of a standards compliant layout. In addition the images and files where optimized to improve server performance.
